Scott is the owner and founder of Truth & Grace Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Scott earned his Juris Doctorate from The University of Alabama School of Law.
Prior to law school, Scott spent 20 years in the U.S. Army. He was an enlisted Infantryman for the 10 years before commissioning as an Engineer Officer to finish out his career. Scott was deployed on multiple combat tours and earned various awards and decorations. He also earned his Bachelor of Arts in General Studies at Columbia College and his Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from The University of Louisville while serving on active duty.
Scott, his wife Beth, and four children have lived in Tuscaloosa for 10 years. They actively attend Valley View Baptist Church.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Travis has what it takes to overcome the challenges facing us. After growing up in suburban Washington State, Travis enlisted in the Marine Corps at eighteen and headed to Iraq a short time later.
Travis served four and a half years with the Marine Corps before separating. Upon returning home to Washington, he completed two years of study at Everett Community College in Everett, Washington before continuing his education at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi.
While at Mississipi College, Travis went on to graduate Cum Laude in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. After graduation, Travis worked with state and local government officials to construct a long term plan for infrastructure improvement and economic development in Jackson, MS, and the surrounding areas.
Graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2017, Travis started his career at a small family litigation firm in Birmingham, AL. In Birmingham, Travis helped clients navigate divorce and family law proceedings in Jefferson, Blount, and St. Claire counties. When to opportunity arose to come back home, Travis joined the Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s office prosecuting felony cases. This experience gave him the skills and knowledge to successfully present facts and law persuasively. Further, working closely with police, Travis gained an in-depth knowledge of how law enforcement operates. Lastly, Travis has experience arguing difficult, complex and, passion-filled cases to judges and juries. Travis’s first argued a case to a jury was just four months after graduating from law school.
Travis, his wife, and their three children have made their home in Northport for the past six years. His wife is a teacher in Northport. Travis’s children were born in Tuscaloosa and his family is active at Northport Baptist Church.
Beth is the wife of Scott Sloss. She has an extensive background in office management and automation.
Prior to assisting her husband launch a private law practice, Beth earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University, a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and earned a post-graduate Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Alabama.
Beth served in the U.S. Army for 9 years as an enlisted Military Police member and Military Police Officer. She left the military service to raise her children and to support her husband's military career.
Beth volunteers with Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama as a co-troop leader, and troop cookie manager. When her time allows, she volunteers for various church missions and activities.
Hailing from Phenix City, Alabama, Jakaila joins us with a cum laude Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Jakaila's enthusiasm and dedication have already made a significant impact on our team. She has quickly become our go-to for first impressions, whether she’s welcoming clients as they enter our office or interacting with them on the phone. We’re proud to call her our Director of First Impressions!
As she prepares for the LSAT and eyes law school for fall 2025, we’re thrilled to have her on board and can’t wait to see her future successes.
